We know that early literacy is important and a great indicator of future academic success, but there are many other benefits to young children reading and engaging with books, especially when doing so with a caring adult. Reading offers the opportunity for children and caregivers to experience several elements that strengthen their connection with each other.

Lisa Golden LISW-S is a Licensed Independent Social Worker providing mental health services to children and caregivers for almost 20 years. She served as a Clinical Lead Supervisor with the Early Childhood Mental Health Prevention team at Nationwide Children’s Behavioral Health for over six years. She currently works as an Early Childhood Mental Health Administrator at the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
